A Bin A Day

So, this is the first proper post in a long, long time. I wish that I'd kept up with the blog as it was going quite well in the beginning. Lets hope I can keep up to speed and post more regularly.
This time round I'm going to post up a bin image if I can and also some new work of mine - if there is any - at the same time.
If the posts are quite often very badly formatted and the text is a little all over the place then that has come from my iphone. I have a feeling that this is how many of the posts will get published so sorry in advance.

Well, i feel that i may of lost the few regular readers that this blog had. Guess they just got bored waiting on an exciting new bin image. I can't say i blame them really! I mean, it has taken me about a month to upload a new image and it's not like i've been busy really in that time. Just sort of forgot i suppose. Anyway, i am going to try and get it together and keep updates more regular from now on. Yes, i do realise that i have said this before and hopefully this time it will hold true.
Keep checking back and thanks to the few of you that have stayed and checked the blog often.

P.S. Saw this massive wasp/bee/hornet/huge yelllow and black thing at work today. It was amazing. You could touch it and it would'nt fly away. I think it was a bit of a poser as it let me take at least 10 pics of it before we had poked it enough and it flew away!

So this whole keeping the posts regular isn't quite going to plan is it! I'll try and get back to posting everyday ASAP.

Spent the morning catching up on emails as seems to become the norm at the moment. Spent a couple of hours wandering round Covent Garden in the sun, getting all the things i need to get done, done. Posted 2 Birthday cards and a Father's day card. That was about the extent of my list of things to do come to think of it!

Took this image while i was making my dinner, i just really liked the way the light was coming in the window and lighting the plant.

I have made the transition from Glasgow to London and now it's time to get cracking on assisting work, Well looking for it anyway, It's not going to come to me!

Right, firstly, sorry for the massive delay in new posts.
I am currently down in London trying to get things sorted for moving down here on June 1st. Managed to get myself a flat and can't wait to get moved down properly.
Now i am just looking at photographers to contact about assisting work. It's fun, i really enjoy looking through people's work.

Secondly, Sorry there will be no pictures on the blog while i am here as i borrowed a laptop and i don't have the software which my camera needs to upload the pics. I am taking them though and when i am settled it will be a mass upload of last of the Glasgow bins and the Start of the London ones. Bet you are all so excited.

Today I sold my car. I can now get things in action for moving to London. I was sad to see it go, it was a good first car despite all of it's problems. I suppose you always love your first car because it's simply that, your first car.
Had a good day all in all with selling the car and then having fish and chips by the Forth Bridges.
Back to work tomorrow! Great.

Got bloody soaked today in the heaviest rain i have seen in quite some time. Spent most of my day on the train going between Glasgow and Edinburgh and East Kilbride. I had to go to the Edinburgh branch to get till trained for work. It was a good day, getting paid to sit on the train and look out the window listening to music. If only more days at work could be like that.

Had a good day in Edinburgh yesterday. I remembered to check out the Fruitmarket Gallery that i said that i was going to have to go to a few posts ago. The gallery is a nice space but the show that was on wasn't that good. It was the Print the Legend show that i mentioned in the same post. There are a few nice images in it though but that was about all that i liked.
At the Stills Gallery there was a good show by Peter Hujar. I was not aware of his work before i saw the show but it was a nice surprise and was glad that i went.
I spent the rest of the day wandering around the city mainly photographing bins and getting the usual strange looks in the process.

Today has been spent getting excited about getting a BMX when i move to London (sad i know). I have spent all day watching BMX videos online, the weather is perfect for riding and i've been sat here getting more and more frustrated! I hate being inside when the weather is this good.

I have been meaning to post this set of bins for a while now. They were all over the inside of a hospital in Glasgow. Privileged bins!

Started a new job this week in Jessops as i need some money for the move down south. Going well if not a little boring. The people are all really nice though which makes a big difference as does the bloody good discount!
Anyway, I'm off to watch The Pink Panther Strikes Again.
Good old classic comedy. Peter Sellers is a genius.

Well, it's been a while since i last posted once again. This blog is becoming more like a bin every few days than everyday, sorry about that.
Got my car fixed once again today, another £110 spent on it. I think it would be cheaper to just leave the bloody thing rotting a field. Just got to get rid of the bloody thing so i can move to London soon. Still no takers?!
Anyway, It's Friday night and i'm spending it in front of my computer, i need to get a life soon! ha ha.

I took this at the Glasgow Fort the other day. I think i might have to take a trip back and shoot some more stuff.

Sorry for the lack of posting this weekend, I was up in Sunny Dundee seeing my Dad. Had a nice weekend and saw some family that i haven't seen in about 5 years. It was really nice to catch up with them hopefully it won't be as long until i see them again.
On the way back i stopped at the garage to get the indicator bulb changed in my car, it is impossible to change it on a Megane without taking the bumper off. Nice and practical. As a result of this i was stung with a £43 bill for changing a bulb and holder. £9 in parts and the rest in Labour. Renault sure know how to design a car that bleeds you dry of money with being as un-user friendly as possible. Great one!
Anyway, I have decided that things aren't going so well up here in Bonny Scotland on the assisting front, so i have decided that it's time to head down to London to try my luck.
Lots of selling of things to do!
Anybody want to buy a Renault Megane? 59,000 miles, FSH, Reliable (ha ha ha), and a nice shade of wine red.
Thought not.

I eventually remembered to email source magazine today about getting a new copy as the print in mine ran off the page. They are posting me out one which is nice of them.
Much of today was spent in Glasgow having a bit of a wander and more part-time job searching. Bills have to be paid unfortunately.
Right, i think it's about time for something interesting that's not about me for a change. I picked up a leaflet for the Fruitmarket Gallery in Edinburgh today. Looks like a nice gallery, i might have to take a trip through soon and check it out.
The show that is on at the minute is called Print The Legend: The Myth of The West. There is some nice work in it. In the leaflet there is a nice image by Peter Granser. I have just checked out his site and he makes some good work. Go look at it.

Well, it's happened. After a whole year of trying to convince myself otherwise, i have to admit that i made a huge mistake. This was not what i wanted, it would not benefit me at all, and i was much happier before.
You may be think right now that this is some major life changing decision that happened. You would be right but not in as serious a way as you might think. You see, it's simply that i want a BMX again and not a mountain bike like i have now.
About a year ago i stopped riding my BMX and decided that a mountain bike would be a much better mode of transport and that it would be more fun. I couldn't of been more wrong. Mountain bikes are big, expensive and not as much fun as a BMX.
Today I made the big mistake of Buying Ride BMX, which also just happened to be the Photo issue. I have Ridden for BMX for years and it was all that my life centred round in my teens.
While at Uni i lost interest, mainly because of where i lived in Nottingham and a lack of people to ride with. As a result of stopping riding I got unfit and fat. The odd time i went out it wasn't fun because my tits were bouncing all over the place, (ok, I'm not that fat but you get the idea).
Back to the magazine. Reading it today reminded me how much i missed riding a BMX and how the whole thing is about more than just a silly little bike. It's about the mates that you ride with, the good times on and off the bike and the scaring yourself shitless when you pull a new trick.
It was through reading these magazines that i first started to get into photography. The recording of the antics on and off the bike was something that i found interesting. The images were really well shot and had considered compositions.
I started to believe that there was a connection between people who do extreme sports and the creative industries. This was a result of most of my friends riding BMX or Skateboarding and studying something creative at college such as Graphic design, Media or photography. A large amount of the images in the magazines were shot by photographers who also rode.
I still think there is a definite link between the two interests. Both require a large amount of originality and determination to succeed.
My passion for BMX is returning fast and it is making me want to shoot images even more than normal.
So, my mountain bike is now on ebay and hopefully it will go for a decent price so i can get the BMX of my dreams. I know, a bit sad for a 25 year old.

What the hell is going on with the weather?! It's April and we are getting snow! Surely this isn't right? To be fair we didn't get that much snow in Glasgow but still. Maybe Christmas and Easter should swap times of year, well in the UK anyway.
Spent a few hours this afternoon taking some more photos from around town. I have a bit of a project building up i think, just gonna keep shooting and see what comes out.

Does anybody remember that song that was at number one for ages in the early 1990's, the one from Robin Hood, Prince of thieves?
Yeah thats it, the Bryan Adams song. Well turns out that he isn't just a singer but he is also pretty good with a camera as well. I first saw his work in Wallpaper magazine on a Guess ad. A really nice set of images with a beautiful model. Just checked out his website last night and couldn't believe the singer and the photographer was the same Bryan Adams, i thought it might of been a coincidence. Anyway, have a look at his work, some really nice portraits. Not going to link to any more of his music though! Sorry.

The Day After The Heavy One That Came Before It.

Well, as you can probably tell from the title of the post, yesterday was a heavy one and i'm paying for it today. Always how you should be though the day after your Birthday. Had a great day and spent the evening with the whole family drinking and getting merry. I like it when the whole family gets together, its always a really good laugh.
Today i had to go and collect my car after leaving it last night. The sun was in and out and it was a nice walk in the freezing cold taking some pictures, only wish i had taken a warmer coat.

The arse has fallen out of my car. Now that the electrics are eventually fixed after a year and a half, i think it has got bored and decided to let bits drop off. I was driving yesterday and there was a huge bang and felt like something had hit the front of the car. I couldn't see any damage so drove on but when turning near full lock there was a loud screech. Turns out that the fabric stuff at the back of the engine bay has dropped onto the steering rack. NEVER BUY A RENAULT MEGANE! let this be a warning to you.

Found this today and pissed myself laughing. I think you have to take stock of things when you are stood in the street on your own, laughing at a bin, maybe it's time to question your sanity a little. Anyway, i laughed and didn't question my sanity as when you go looking for bins i think your way beyond help.

That's it, it's all done now. No more left. Season 2 of Prison Break is complete and i can get my life back. I am delighted yet saddened by this as i now have no more to watch, and the Fox website won't let me watch any season 3 episodes online because i am in the UK. I hope that those of you in America are enjoying it (unless you hate it of course).
Anyway, I found this goal post the other day and went back today to photograph it.
I liked the way that it was just left stood useless in a field that would be impossible to play football on.

I've just found a Level 42 album on my iTunes and it's ace! Not sure i should be admitting that on here but what the hell! I'm not even old enough to remember them in their hayday!
Just searching Youtube to find a good Level 42 video to post. Sorry about this.

Went into Glasgow today to try and sort out some part-time work as the whole assisting thing is quite hard to make a living from in Glasgow. Went around some shops trying to get some weekend work, handed out a few CV's and hopefully i will hear back soon.
I was clearing up when i got home and found this news paper. This is a headline that i never thought that i would hear!

The quiet world of indoor bowls has been shattered! ha ha! I can't believe that this is front page news. Well i can in that it is such a shock, but also can't because i am sure that there are far more important things happening in the world! Guess it comes down to the quality of the paper.

I forgot to mention the other day that when i was at the Side Gallery, i bought a book called Spitting Windward by Manuel Sendon for the bargain price of £3! There are some really nice images in it, worth a look for sure.

Today has mainly been spent watching season 2 of Prison Break. It is controlling my life slightly at the moment. Just got the whole series and really need to watch them all so i can get my life back! I always get hooked on programs and have to watch the season non stop for a few days, then i hate when i'm all out of new episodes. Sad eh?! only got 8 episodes to go now!

Found this in my car today. I think that it goes someway to explaining all the trouble that i have had with the bloody thing.

The week that was.

I want to start today by thanking Andrew Hetherington over at Whats the Jackanory?, for adding this blog to his blog roll.

Well once again i have to apologize for the lack of new posts this last week. It has been a busy but great one. Was nice to be back in the North East catching up with mates i haven't seen in ages and of course seeing the girlfriend before she goes away.
Most of the week was spent watching films and generally hanging out with mates and my girlfriend, but i did have some time to take all the bin images for the week to post here and also take in some galleries.

I went to the Baltic Gallery, which is a great place. Not so much for the shows they have on, i just really like the place, also has a great bookshop. They had a couple of good shows on this time. None were really photography related but i thought id mention them anyway. Barry McGee had a show on called They Don't make This Anymore . This was a really nice show, had some nice prints and some nice photographs and lots of nice Biro drawings.
Mona Marzouk had a snow on called The Bride Stripped Bare By Her Energy's Evil. This was an interesting show, i didn't really get what it was all about but there was a nicely animated video and some huge wall paintings that were pretty cool.
I also went and checked out the Side Photographic Galllery. There was a great exhibition on by Rhodri Jones about Chinese migrants. There were loads of nice black and white hand prints. It was really good to see some hand prints, makes such a difference when shot on film and traditionally printed.

On Easter Monday i met up with a mate in a bar in Durham, while we were there, these two dogs were sat outside patiently waiting on their owners return.
I was just amazed at how quietly they waited considering how long their owner left them for.
Sorry once again for the long delay in posting and for the amount of bin images in one go! i'll keep it more up to date from now on.

Today was going to be a busy one. The plan was to go into Glasgow with Chris and go for some lunch before his train, i then had to come home and pack and drive to Durham to see my girlfriend before she heads to Canada for 2 months.
We went to the Brunswick in town for some lunch, really good food and a nice hotel. If you are ever in Glasgow you should check it out.
Chris got his train home and i headed back to start my packing.
I set off for Durham about 18:30 and had every sort of weather on the way. Started in sun, headed into pouring rain, then sleet turning into snow and just before Newcastle there was about 2 inches of snow on the road. It seemed to come from nowhere. It just suddenly appeared on the road and was like driving on an ice rink. Managed to arrive safely, although very tired.

The road trip.

Picked up my car from the garage eventually today! Most of the electrics have now been changed and hopefully it should work for more than a few days before it has to be returned once again!
Once the car had been picked up, Chris and I decided to go on a road trip on the way home. We came back from Perth along the Fife coastal route and the aim was to end up at the Forth Bridges. The coastal route was taking ages and at points it wasn't obvious if we were still on it or not, so we took a motorway back to the Forth bridges because it was quicker and we could avoid rush hour on the M8. We stopped at the bridges to take some photos, then headed home to eat and have some beers.

Nothing really photographic today, sorry.

I have to start this post with an apology for not posting since Tuesday! The main reason for this was that i have been busy, not working but hanging out with my mate Chris that came up to visit. Right, time to get the last few days sorted and posted! enjoy the read!

Wednesday 19th March
Went into town to meet Chris who was coming up to visit from London for a few days. Haven't seen him since October so i've been looking forward to him coming up.
I was at the station about 20 minutes before his train was due to arrive and bought a book i wanted to pass the time. I was sat reading and after a few minutes i noticed this really annoying repetitive beeping noise. I was looking around and i saw this woman sat on this truck (sorry about the crap image, she moved just as i pressed the shutter).

As you have probably witnessed when at train stations or airports, these trucks beep as they move. This woman was sat for ages talking to her friend and never took the bloody thing out of gear, so it was sat there for about 10 minutes beeping it's arse off with everyone around getting increasingly more pissed off. Eventually she drove away and the beep faded into the distance.
Soon after Chris' train arrived and thats roughly when the blog got abandoned.

I found this work today by Gregor Graf. Really interesting idea, the street look very strange without all the slogans and lettering. Check out his other work on the site too, some really nice stuff.

Today i accidentally found a place that i have been meaning to check out for ages. I was trying to skip a traffic jam so took the first slip road that came up. As i was driving about i randomly past the Falkirk wheel. This is going to sound a bit sad but i have wanted to see this place in ages! It is basically a fancy canal lock but how amazing does it look. I was so pleased that i happened to have my camera with me. It was bloody frozen but i must of spent about an hour walking round taking pictures. Was going to put more pictures up here but i think i am going to save them for another time. Sorry.
Those of you out there that also read the great Low winter sun will have read about the NIN Ghosts album. The artwork that comes in the PDF that you get with the free download is really nice. While i was checking this out i found some of the photographers credited, one of them is Philip Graybill. There is some really nice work on his site and you should go and look at it now!

Didn't manage to get the images finished today as i could not see my computer screen because of the sun beaming into the flat. I know that i could of just closed the blinds, but in Scotland the sun is a precious thing and should not be wasted! I have time tomorrow morning to sort the remaining images out and there's only about 3 to do.
While the sun was shinning, i decided to build the flat-pack furniture that my dad had asked me to build for him. I had been putting this off all weekend but decided that now was the time to get cracking! Was fun at first, but as the day wore on it became more and more tedious. I started at 3pm and finished at 11pm with a sore right thumb. Not bad for building 2x 6 drawer chests and 2x 3 drawer bedside tables with a long gap for some food.
Time for something photographic related i think, i forgot to email Source about wanting another copy of their magazine as mine isn't printed properly, it's on tomorrows list now with the images.
I found this photo diary by Hedi Slimane the other week, think it was on the Wallpaper website. It has some really nice black & white images on it, mainly in a fashion context. Worth checking out though.

Spent the day working on images that need to be finished by Tuesday. Managed to get most of them done but will have to finish a few of them off tomorrow. I have been at my dads this weekend and have spent most of the day in his flat next to the river.
Haven't been feeling 100% today, could it be man flu? lets hope not!
My mate Benn C sent me a link to this interesting film and Photography project called Women are Heroes.
Looks like an amazing project and it is a really nice idea.

Today, you will be pleased to hear, i think i might actually have something photographic to write about, and not just moan about what my day has been like.
I bought the Winter 2007 Source magazine today (http://www.source.ie). I realize that this edition is a little out of date now but what the hell. Never bought Source before and it's a nice magazine (which it should be for £6) but on some of the articles in my copy the text runs off the page. This is slightly annoying as you can imagine, £6 for a magazine and i can't read half the bloody articles. How i didn't notice this when i flicked through it i don't know. Right moan over.
Besides the missing text there is some nice work in the magazine. There is a good interview with Hannah Collins (http://www.hannahcollins.net) and some of her images which are interesting, well worth a look at.
There are also some odd portraits of Morris Dancers in Paradise by Faye Claridge (http://www.fayeclaridge.co.uk)
In other news. I made a short film today, I used my compact digital camera and shot my drive home. You will not be surprised to hear that it was crap! Ahh well, il try again with a better idea soon.
Anyway, after moaning again and all the build up, sorry for only having a small amount of photography related stuff. I will get my act together soon.

Where's Wally?

Today was spent waiting for my car to be recovered from my house to the garage in Perth. Got up, rang the AA, added home start to my membership and the plan from then on seemed straightforward enough. The recovery driver would be there within 90 minutes, he would take me and my shitty car to the garage. Not so.
The Driver turned up and asked how far away the garage was, "66 miles" i said, "Ahh slight problem, Because of a new legislation that came into force today i can only take you 62 miles from my base." What the F**k! How annoying and typical is that. The driver was really sound and rang up the AA to tell them that i needed a recovery truck, This would be with me in an hour.
So back in the house i went, made a cuppa and waited till 12.30 when the truck was supposed to arrive. Nothing. 1pm, still nothing, The AA rang to say the truck was stuck in traffic and would be there in 20 minutes. 10 minutes later the driver phones and says he is just leaving and will be there in 30mins. By now it is about 2 15pm and i'm thinking this is going to be a 2 hour drive with rush hour traffic, if he doesn't get here soon we are not going to get there in time to pick up my courtesy car.
Luckily he arrives about 2 45pm and we are on the road by just after 3pm. About 10 minutes into the journey we hit traffic, totally stationary , not even crawling. We are sat for about 20 minutes before the traffic clears. To cut an already far to long story a little shorter, we arrived on time and i picked up an awesome courtesy car. I love driving different cars. In short, most of Friday was wasted and i couldn't get on the internet to add to this thing, sorry.

I had to go into Glasgow today so i thought id drive to the station, get the train to town, then the subway to the west end and then walk the rest to where i was meeting someone. Sounds easy doesn't it.
I should probably explain here that my car has a mind of it's own, Herbie doesn't have a patch on my Megane. I was driving it on Sunday and all of a sudden the wipers started going like the clappers, the hazard light were stuck on, not flashing, just on, and the central locking was locking and unlocking the doors every couple of seconds. I was driving along pissing myself laughing at what an idiot i must of looked in the dry with the wipers going and the hazards on.
Well, today i got into the car to see if it would get me to the station, Turned on the ignition and not a sound from the engine but a loud squeak from the dry window as the wipers sprung into action. The engine refused to start much the opposite of the wipers which could not be turned off! and no, the stalk wasn't on in the car. At this point i decided that i was gonna have to walk to the station, so i turned off the ignition again and the wipers still kept going so i just locked the doors and left the car sitting there with the wipers squeaking away.
The walk wasn't entirely pleasant as it was extremely windy and i had to make some phone calls on the way which proved impossible. Got to the train station just as the train left and had to sit in the wind and now rain for 30 minutes waiting for the next one.
Things looked up when i was on the train, it was warm and i could just relax with some good tunes in my ears and my eyes fixed out the window.
Arrived in Glasgow and got a shock when i left the station, it was bloody frozen and i'd forgotten my hat! A swift diversion to H&M to buy a cheap hat sorted that out though. Things seem to be going ok at this point don't they.
Got the subway no problem and arrived without any issues which was great. As i left the Subway station i checked that my phone had network, so i could ring and find out where to meet up. The Phone said that it had network but wouldn't let me ring out. I turned it off and on again which normally helps. Still nothing. This continued for another 10 minutes or so with the phone getting closer to being bounced off the floor! I admit that it was more than likely caused by a lack of network in that area, but i like to blame the phone as it is crap in every other way! Eventually i got network that would let me call and found out what cafe we were meeting in.
All was good from this point on while in town. The walk back to the subway i had fun taking the pictures for the blog. The train home was good also, the walk home wasn't, as it decided to piss it down as i started the 30 minute walk home.
So thats my day, sorry its been a bit of an essay but i'm bored and just kept writing.
Some exciting photographic stuff soon i promise.

Today is the day when i unleash some of the non 1100 images, a long time coming i know. This blog is about more than bloody bins occasionally.
Was through in Leith today, really nice area of Edinburgh. Lots of nice bars and a nice dock area, Would be great to sit outside with a cold beer in the summer, if we get one up here that is! I could quite happily move there, 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh centre and rent is very reasonable. Although i think i prefer Glasgow over Edinburgh. Just feels more like a city to me.
Found an oddly placed caravan today. It was in an overflow carpark at the shopping centre in Leith. All the windows were smashed but inside was set up as if somebody was about to make a round of coffee and duvets were spread out like people were sleeping there. Looked very strange, the outside trashed but the inside was like a cosy little house!

Well the server seems to be working again, which is nice. Sorry about the lack of exciting shopping centre images that i promised. I got my Computer back today and they are on the other one i was using and i cant be arsed to transfer them across! I'm sure you are all so gutted! I guess you will all just have to put up with the bin obsession for a little while longer.

Really interesting stuff, there were some funny head things with different expressions dangling from the roof, some stuffed animals and a whole load of paintings and a few nice black and white photographs.

Picked up a leaflet today for the Glasgow International Festival of Contemporary Visual Art. www.glasgowinternational.org
Looks like there is going to be some good stuff on, think i will be taking a trip to some of the shows.
Took ages to write this for some reason tonight, possibly to many distractions for me, mainly MSN i think, That thing is going to be my downfall with working.

Well, I think that now is a good time to put up some of my own Images (that are not of bins) before you all think i have some sort of obsession! This was the plan anyway. But the Google server is not letting me add any images, so i guess this will be my first image-less post. Bit pointless i suppose on a blog about pictures of wheelie bins and photography. I do, you'll be pleased to hear, have some bins to put up and some images of the shopping centre. Not that exciting but interesting to some i hope/suppose.
On a non photographic Tangent, i got the Duffy album Rockferry today (www.iamduffy.com). This is one of the best albums i have heard in while. I have heard her being dubbed the 'new Amy' and 'new Dusty'. The later is the most relevant in my opinion. She has a very unique and refreshing sound compared to the shite that is in the charts these days. Love it or hate it, i feel that Mercy is a song that deserves to be at number 1, but hey, it's only my humble irrelevant opinion. Strongly recommend that you check out the album though.
Sorry for the lack of anything remotely photographic today. Will make up for it soon.
Hopefully things will be again working tomorrow.

Well sorry about the delay in posting again, i don't even have an elaborate excuse. Sorry anyway to the 10 of you reading this.
Spent most of yesterday in an empty flat waiting for a sofa to arrive. To keep myself awake/entertained the day was spent mostly reading Hotshoe (www.hotshoeinternational.com), listening to LTJ Bukem, Journey Inwards on repeat for 6 hours and making phone calls to photographers that i would like to assist.
I feel like that i have to make up for the lack of 1100 images for the past few days so here they are.

The new issue of Hotshoe has some interesting work in it. There are some Fantastic portraits by Richard Learoyd (http://www.union-gallery.com/content.php?page_id=2734)
These images are shot in a unique way. I can't be bothered to explain (sorry) but if you are really interested in the process used then there is information on the link posted. I am gutted that i missed the show at the Union Gallery (http://www.union-gallery.com) of these as i think it would of been great to see the large scale prints.

The new VW Polo advert is fantastic. The ad plays on the way that people sing when driving but they might not sing in public. I know for a fact that i sing in my car like an idiot but there is no way in hell that i would ever sing in public. Anyway, in case you havent seen it, here it is.

As you can see from the picture, most of the snow has gone already. Guess that means that we are back to rain as usual. Today was an exception though, was blue skies throughout, which was a nice change.
My computer is in getting fixed at the moment and i feel slightly lost without it. Never actually realised how much i depend on it. Quite sad really i suppose.

Where the hell did all the snow come from!

Woke up this morning to be greeted by a nice blanket of snow. For a change, this wasn't a thin covering of snow, this was a good few inches deep. It's been ages since i have seen this much snow, only wish that i still had a sledge.
I was looking at Richard Avedon's website today and found this image. http://www.richardavedon.com/#mi=2&pt=1&pi=10000&s=6&a=0&p=0&at=0
This image caught my eye because i found it very hard to date, (apart from the obvious date stamp at the bottom i mean). The way in which it is taken and the colours of the image make it appear very timeless to me, especially since in the 60's colour was generally reserved for advertising purposes and i have never seen it look so clean and vibrant from that era.
Richard Avedon is a photographer that i have been aware of since uni but stupidly never taken the time to really look at his work. Looking through the images on his site, i was blown away by the quality of them and how visual advanced for their time they seemed. Hope that you look at more on his site than just that one image, you are very silly if you don't!
Generally had a good day in the snow (mainly driving it it) and managed to get some productive stuff done for a change which is good.

Sorry for the lack of a post yesterday. Great going, starting a blog and forgetting to post on the second day!
Yesterday started off to with a jaunt to the supermarket. The rest of the afternoon was spent on the phone to Apple trying to sort of why my mac wont accept cd's. Turns out that the drive is buggered and needs replacing, this means that i might not have a computer for a week! Great!
Went to a party on the evening for my Aunts 50th birthday. Was a great night, good to see family and fun was had by all. Feeling it a little today though, never mind, sign of a good night i suppose.

Hello there and welcome to A Bin A Day. A blog that has started out of pure boredom, a love of photography and a strange obsession with a bin called the Taylor Continental 1100. Expect to see an image of one of these bins everyday (hopefully) and some random scribbles about general shite.
